A local garage has been rebuilding these rare MG sports cars, after acquiring the last available chassis, body panels and moulds following the liquidation of MG Rover. Several vehicles are being assembled locally and we have been fortunate to have the chance to work alongside Bridge Garage Services creating some exterior panels and interior pieces for the project.
The body panels have the grilles / slats coated in a carbon fibre pattern or detailed in a matt silver paint. The rest of the panels are carefully masked up before primer and base coat are applied. The panels are then carefully hydro dipped in the chosen carbon fibre pattern before the items are then inspected and lacquered in the selected clear coat.
Most of the carbon fibre panels and badges we have processed are on a black base coat, with the exterior of the panels varying depending on the colour of the car in question.
We have also processed some cast aluminium panels for the dash and gear lever area of the vehicles. These required a great deal of preparation to remove casting marks and roughness before being appropriately primed and painted. Once the carbon fibre print was applied the items were clear coated using a matt enamel lacquer at the customers request.
We have a photo album on our Facebook page which has all the panels and items shown that we have processed, including images of a panel being dipped in a gold / clear carbon at our premises.
